So, as some of you may know, I am a bit of a nerd. But there's one thing in particular that has had my love for almost a decade: Meteorology. There has always been some reason I loved the weather so much. When I was 12, I was allowed to be a lot more connected to the study of meteorology in general, and this came from a family friend connection in the Windy City of Chicago. My grandparents there have a friend who works at WGN-TV for the weather. I cannot remember if he spoke to me, but it doesn't matter. The other opportunity I had was in Iowa, where my other grandparents, who wanted to encourage my interest in meteorology, brought me to an actual weather station set up by a farmer.

I have a picture of me checking out said weather station, but I am too scared to ask anyone for that picture. So here is a professional drawing:

I am yapping about this today because it is time in my University career to consider what minor I want to take. I think it is required to take a minor anyway here at Rutgers. Initially, I thought I would take Jewish Studies, but I feel like that does not connect to me as much as maybe something else. So, after I was signing up for Spring semester courses, I came across the section "Meteorology," and the childhood lightbulb in my head lit up. After checking the synopsis, I was joyed to put that in my registered class. Later that week, I thought: "Why don't I just take this as my minor?" Boom. Genius.

As a kid, extreme weather and maps have always intrigued me because I never got that kind of action back in my hometown, which was Palo Alto, CA. So, when I went to the Midwest, I got to experience actual wind and rain! I will make sure to yap to you guys about how that class is going when I actually take it, which should be in about 2 months. Other than this tangent, my day today was quite uneventful. I managed to write to you guys about yesterday, which took place today in my morning writing class. I suppose the day started slow, with a tough effort to get out of my amazing bed (which is only comfortable during the morning) and then slugging over to the bus station.

I kid you not; it was a 20-degree wind chill with slight showers in the morning. What the hell? When I got to writing class after fighting inner cold demons, I was greeted with donuts from Dunkin' that my teacher brought to class, rewarding us for doing the bare minimum of coming to class... and yes, I had a glazed donut, obviously. Today's class activity was to review background information for our last project's research question. And instead of the classic high school analogy of the Star Wars intro, it was actually informative. We then split into groups and heavily critiqued these poor students' background paragraphs from last year. The teacher went hard with the feedback; I think she had a bad day before class. After class, I waddled to lunch and had some mozzarella sticks that tended to explode juices after 2 newtons of force applied to them and some Chuck-E-Cheese level pizza (my favorite).

After coming home, I took a really well-deserved nap, and here I am. It isn't completely the end of the day yet, I still have dinner to eat, but I doubt it's gonna be very different from lunch.
